Mendel festival
This festival held in July to celebrate the birthday of Gregor Johann Mendel combines culture and science, and involves a number of Brno institutions.
- Gregor Johann Mendel is the famous father of genetics who lived and worked in Brno.
- Held at the premises of the abbey at Old Brno (Staré Brno) and other places in and around the city.
- Fun and educational program for both kids and adults, concerts, theatre performances, lectures, workshops, and videomapping.
- Universities, city-funded, and private organizations as well as the Augustinian abbey in Old Brno take part.
- Apart from the cooperation on the festival, TIC BRNO presents Mendel in a printed guide, collection of souvenirs, a tour on gotobrno.cz, and more.
